Playing in an event
My organizer gave me a code. How do I join?
In the Golf Sync app, tap Playing today? Join with a code on the home screen or the sign-in screen, or enter the code at golfsync.io/play. Codes are 6 digits, and you don't need an account to join with one. An event with two or more tournaments also has one event code. It opens a page listing every tournament, and you pick yours there. Each tournament keeps its own code too, and either one works.
I can't find my name on the list.
Try a shorter spelling (a first name works), or look through the whole list. If you're still not there, your organizer can add you at the desk. If the code itself has stopped working: Once your organizer finalizes a tournament, its code stops working until they reopen it.
We're playing a scramble. Who keeps the card?
In a scramble or alternate shot your team keeps one card, in the Golf Sync app: the browser can't keep it. Anyone on the team may enter it, so agree on the first tee who will. Everyone else just plays.
What happens if I lose signal while scoring?
In the app, a score you enter with no signal is saved on your phone and sent when the signal comes back. The website needs a signal to save a score. Entering a hole again replaces the earlier score rather than adding a second one.
How do I pay my entry fee, or get a refund?
Entry fees and sponsorships are paid to the event's organizer, who handles refunds and changes to your entry, so ask them first. If you signed up on an event page and didn't finish paying, your organizer can send you a payment link. Golf Sync doesn't send one by itself. If a card is declined, check its details or try another card, and write to us if you can't reach your organizer.
I joined with a code. Can I sign in later?
On a Golf Sync XP, joining with a code doesn't make you a Golf Sync account: the phone or browser you joined on is signed in as your spot. To get back in on another phone, enter the code again and tap your name. To keep a tournament in your own Golf Sync account, sign in before you join with the code, or ask your organizer to link your spot to your account. On other events, joining with a code makes you an account from the email you give, with no password you know. To set one, use Forgot password on the sign-in page with that email.
Running an event
Can Golf Sync run my whole event?
Yes. Golf Sync XP runs your whole golf event (sign-ups and payments, sponsors, live scoring on every phone and the clubhouse TV, results and sponsor recaps), or we run it for you. Request one from Golf Sync XP in the Golf Sync app. It's invoiced before it's built. Already have a registration site Golf Sync set up for you as a hosted event? See Hosted tournaments.
How do my players get their codes?
Golf Sync doesn't send join codes by itself. Hand them out, print them, or press Send join links on the Overview tab to email the players who have an address on file and haven't claimed a spot. Anyone else types the code at golfsync.io/play.
Where do I get help while I'm running it?
In the Tournament console, press Help: it answers questions about each tab, from every tab. For anything else, email us.
How do sponsors get their logo on everything?
A sponsor can add a logo when they sign up on your event page, or send it to you later, and you upload it from the list on the Sponsors tab. It then shows on your hole signs and the TV board. The morning after the tournament, each sponsor with an email address gets their recap, unless the address is on the do-not-email list or Golf Sync's postal address isn't set. The Sponsors tab shows when each recap goes out.
How do people watch the leaderboard on a TV at the club?
Open the TV board tab in the tournament's Tournament console. It gives the tournament a short code the first time you open it, and you can change it. Anyone can then open golfsync.io/tv/YOUR-CODE in a TV or laptop browser, with no sign-in and nothing to install, and the screen switches between the leaderboard and your paid sponsors, if you have any. Open the setup card there to print or forward the address with a QR code.
Casual golf with friends
How do I organize a round of golf?
Open the Rounds page and choose Organize a Round, or pick Book Round in the menu. Pick the date and start typing the course name: the course can wait, and Find one on Maps helps if you don't know one. Then invite your group, collect RSVPs, and book the tee time itself on the course's own site.
On the phone: On the Full 18 home screen, tap Play a Round, then Organize a Round.
How do I check who's available before I pick a day?
Open Tee Time Polls in the menu and create a poll with one or more date options; each can have a time window or a specific tee time. Invite your group and set when voting closes, and it closes itself. When you see the best day, organize the round from it.
How do I add playing partners?
Open Playing Partners in the menu, search by username or name (at least 2 characters) and click Add Partner; the button changes to Pending until they accept. If they're not on Golf Sync yet, Invite by Email sends them a sign-up link.
On the phone: Go to Account › Playing Partners, or tap Add friends on the home screen.
Someone hasn't answered my round invite.
Players who haven't answered show as Invited on the round.
Not yet: Remind and Nudge non-responders don't reach players yet, so text or call anyone who hasn't answered.
Can I add someone after the round is created?
Yes, while the round isn't cancelled or complete: open it and add them by their Golf Sync username with Add Player, and they get an invitation.
Not yet: Email invites and invite links don't add anyone to the round yet. If a friend isn't on Golf Sync, have them create a free account and send you their username.
Can I keep score for a round with friends?
Yes: open Scan a Scorecard in the menu to photograph your paper card, then check each hole and save the round. Your own scorecard needs a signal to save, on the web and in the app.
Finding and listing events
How do I find tournaments near me?
Open Tournament Center in the menu (or golfsync.io/tournament-center/tournaments). Pick a state, or type a ZIP and set a radius to see events by distance. Search by name, city, venue or format, or in plain English, like “scrambles near Richmond in August”. Browsing is free and needs no account.
On the phone: Tap Tournament Center on the home screen, or Find a tournament to play on the Tournaments tab. Events near you load straight away; tap Sort by distance for the closest first.
I clicked Register and the organizer's page was closed or missing.
Register sends you to the organizer's own signup page: we don't run their registration, so spots can fill or close without us knowing. Every event page also has a Search Google for more about this event link for exactly this case. If an event is over or the listing is wrong, use Suggest an edit or Report on the listing and a moderator will pick it up.
How do I get my tournament listed?
Search for it first: the catalog is built partly from public sources, so it may already be there, and then Suggest an edit beats adding a duplicate. If it's missing, use Add a tournament in the Tournament Center and give its name, a ZIP or a city and state, and its date, because a listing without a date isn't shown. Listing is free, submissions are reviewed before they appear, and My Submissions shows where yours is.
Can I get tournaments emailed to me?
Yes. On the Tournament Center, use the weekly digest card: enter a ZIP and choose 25, 50 or 100 miles, or your whole state. It's free and unsubscribing takes one click. If you're not signed in we'll send a confirmation email first. You can also get a one-off email before a single event: choose Set reminder from the listing's ⋮ menu (you'll need a free account).
On the phone: On a tournament, tap Remind me and choose how many days before, and we'll email you that day. To cancel it, tap Reminder set.
I need a venue. Can you get me quotes from courses?
Yes, free and without an account. Use Course Quotes in the Tournament Center: you answer one question at a time (where, when, how many golfers, format, budget, any extras) and courses near you send itemized proposals. On submit you get a private tracking link, which we email too, where you can compare bids side by side, shortlist, message a course, and accept one. There's a recover page if you lose the link.
Teams and coaches
Do you support school or club golf teams?
Yes. A team program gives a coach a roster, team rounds at real courses, per-player stats that build across a season, and a live board to watch from the cart. Players join with an 8-character code from their coach: in the Golf Sync app, tap Joining a school team? Enter your code on the sign-in screen. A code works once and expires after 48 hours, so ask your coach for a new one if yours has run out. Players don't need a Golf Sync account. Programs are set up by us: email support@golfsync.io.
Your account and help
Is Golf Sync free?
Yes, for golfers: scoring, rounds with friends, polls, partners, chat and leagues cost nothing, and you can join an event with a code without an account. An event's entry fee, if it has one, is set by its organizer. Organizers who run an event on Golf Sync XP are invoiced for it.
How do I reset my password?
On the sign-in page, choose Forgot password? and enter your email. We email a reset link that works for 1 hour; on the phone, open it on the same phone and it opens the app. If you signed up with Google or Apple there's no Golf Sync password to reset, and the email tells you how to sign in instead. Already signed in? Use Change password → in Account Settings. Passwords expire every 90 days, and you're asked to change yours when it does.
On the phone: Signed in, go to Account › Change Password.
Why can't I sign in?
Check your email and password first. After five wrong tries your account locks for 15 minutes, even with the right password, so wait and try again, or reset your password, which unlocks it. If you signed up with Google or Apple, use that button. Joined an event with a code? On a Golf Sync XP, joining with a code doesn't make you a Golf Sync account: the phone or browser you joined on is signed in as your spot. To get back in on another phone, enter the code again and tap your name. On other events, joining with a code makes you an account from the email you give, with no password you know. To set one, use Forgot password on the sign-in page with that email. If you think your account was suspended by mistake, write to us below.
How do I stop marketing emails?
In Account Settings, go to Email Preferences and turn off Marketing & product updates; it takes effect straight away. Turning it off also stops the emails a league or event organizer sends to all its members through Golf Sync. Account emails such as password resets and security alerts always send.
On the phone: Go to Account › Email Preferences.
How do I delete my account?
In Account Settings, use Delete My Account at the bottom. The Privacy & Cookie Policy explains your right to have your data deleted.
On the phone: Go to Account › Delete Account.
I reported a user. What happens next?
Our team reviews it. If the report is upheld, the account is suspended and its email can't be used to sign up again.
