The tiers that sell
Offer a few tiers at clearly different prices, from one sponsor whose name goes on the event to a hole sign any local business can afford. Each tier should say in a line what the sponsor gets.
- Title or presenting sponsor: the event's name, the logo everywhere, a foursome or two
- Hole sponsors: a sign on a hole, the easiest yes for a local business
- Contest sponsors: closest to the pin, the longest drive
- Lunch, dinner or beverage-cart sponsors
- Team packages: a foursome with a sign
What each package includes
Most packages mix three things: players (a foursome the sponsor uses for clients or staff), recognition (signs, the event page, a thank-you at the awards) and hospitality (dinner seats). Keep each package's list short enough to read in ten seconds.
With Golf Sync XP
Each tier carries its price, the foursome or dinner seats it includes, its benefits and how many are left. A sponsor whose package includes golf names its own players.
Pricing your packages
Price the top tier for one or two sponsors, the middle tiers for several, and keep a sign every local business can buy without a meeting. A package that includes golf should cost more than its players would pay to enter. Limit the title and contest slots, say how many are left, and offer last year's sponsors their packages before anyone else.
The paperwork sponsors need
A business pays from an invoice, with your organization's legal name, address and tax ID on it, and often asks for a W-9. Have both ready before you ask. Whether a sponsorship is deductible for the sponsor is a question for its own accountant.
With Golf Sync XP
Sponsors apply from your event page and pay by card, bank or check, and each gets a PDF invoice with your EIN. No Golf Sync fee on registrations, donations or sponsorships when your event raises money.
Recognition on the day
Put every sponsor where players will see it: on its hole, on the welcome banner, on the leaderboard and in the thank-yous at the awards. A sponsor who saw its name all day is an easy renewal.
With Golf Sync XP
Sponsor logos run on the event page, the clubhouse TV, their hole's sign and the players' scorecards.
After the event: the recap that renews
Within a week, thank each sponsor with photos and a note of where its name ran, and ask about next year while the day is fresh. Keep a record of who sponsored what and what they paid: it is next year's starting list.
With Golf Sync XP
Each sponsor gets a recap of where its logo ran: the easiest way to sign it again next year.
